Aquascaping is the art of arranging aquatic plants, stones, driftwood, and substrate inside an aquarium. Like landscaping a garden, but underwater and in miniature. The result is a living ecosystem that grows and changes over time.
A well-designed aquascape considers the interplay of light, depth, and negative space. Plants in the foreground stay low and dense. The midground creates drama. Background plants provide height and movement. Hardscape, rocks and wood, gives the composition its skeleton.
